I am a retired electrical engineer and engineering manager. My professional career in both the consulting and oilfield industries emphasized implementing automation and advancing the application of technology. My family includes generations of educators. Our adult children and all our grandchildren have been participants in King’s Gate summer programs. All three of our granddaughters are currently enrolled in King’s Gate early childhood programs. I am an outspoken advocate of King’s Gate’s culture, ministry, educational philosophy, and programs. My personal ministry includes being actively involved in encouraging, advising, and assisting our school leadership. I also enjoy volunteering at the school with everything from popping popcorn for special events, to helping with office procedures, to helping with strategies for furthering the King’s Gate experience. In addition to my degree in electrical engineering, I earned an MBA from OU.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the LORD, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the LORD as a reward. It is the LORD Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24
I moved to OKC in 1977, joined Our Lord’s Community Church, and became familiar with the newly organized King’s Gate School. I championed their early mission to mainstream special needs children and serve as an outreach ministry to the community. While serving as the Our Lord’s staff administration liaison on the King’s Gate Board for many years, I worked with Wyndi and Shenae as the school grew. In 2015, I joined the board as a voting member. Both of my sons, Matt and Nate, attended King’s Gate Preschool in the late 1980s. My husband Robert, from OUHSC, serves as visiting scientist to King’s Gate. Both my husband and myself are grateful to be part of a school that has remained true to providing a loving atmosphere that encourages learning and opportunity for each child to grow in knowledge and learn to live in GOD’s Kingdom. We look forward with anticipation to increased growth in enrollment and the continued addition of grades to the school.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
King’s Gate Christian School holds a very special place in my heart as my brothers and I attended the preschool program in the late 1980s. My wife, Laura, has worked in education for more than 10 years as a teacher and now as a dyslexia therapist. When it came time for us to find the ideal school to send our two children, we could not find a place that felt more ideal than King’s Gate. This school is unparalleled in its commitment to a Kingdom focused approach to education as well as individualized attention to each student. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of a school with these priorities at the forefront of every decision and look forward to the amazing future the LORD has planned for King’s Gate.
“For I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
I am humbled and honored to have the honor to serve as a King’s Gate Board member. My family has been involved with King’s Gate to some degree or other since 1989 and I have seen firsthand the fruit of their ministry
I was born in England but grew up in Australia and New Zealand. I came to America to go to school and while attending OSU I met my beautiful wife, Angie. We have been married for over 30 years and Angie served as a King’s Gate board member over 20 years ago. All five of our amazing daughters, Ashlyn, Emma, Kathryn, Faith, and Hope attended King’s Gate and have served as King’s Gate Teaching Assistants. I am impressed with how King’s Gate staff are taught and encouraged to maintain academic excellence while also teaching Christian principles and modeling Christ-like behavior to their students and each other. All my daughters love and serve the LORD and have shared experiences where they have been ministered to by their mentors at King’s Gate.
In my spare time when I’m not attending dancing competitions and pageants with my daughters, I like to do missionary work in Mexico and Kenya and work as pit crew for Potters Clay Motorcycle Racing Team.
I’m hoping to use my diverse background as an Attorney, Youth Minister, and small business owner to support and continue to grow King’s Gate and see more families blessed by this outstanding school.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask GOD, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5 ESV
I became a King’s Gate board member in January 2017. I first began to hear about King’s Gate through friends whose children attended there and were very pleased with their children’s experience. As I learned more about the school, I was very drawn to the school’s emphasis on providing a loving, gentle, Christ-like environment for the students that is so evident at King’s Gate. I was also very impressed with the small class sizes, high teacher to student ratio, and quality of teaching. So when offered the opportunity to serve on the board, I was delighted to have an opportunity to help accomplish the mission of this wonderful school. I feel that King’s Gate is a blessing to the community in the way it nurtures children while educating them with excellence. I have two adult daughters and was married to my wonderful husband, Bob, for thirty-one years until he went to be with the LORD in October 2014 after an eight month battle with brain cancer. I look forward to all that GOD will accomplish through King’s Gate in the future.
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have (perfect) peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer (take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted)! For I have overcome the world. (I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.)” John 16:33 Amplified Bible
I attended King’s Gate for preschool almost 30 years ago. I still remember many of the songs and have taught them to my kids. I’m thrilled about the opportunity to come full circle and serve on the board at King’s Gate. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2009 with a degree in business management and now work as a commercial banker with First United Bank. I married my beautiful wife Salem in 2010. We have a three year old daughter named Hallie and a 9 month old son named Heston. I believe in the ministry and the vision of the school and I am excited to play a part. I truly believe the LORD will do amazing things with the seeds we have the opportunity to plant in these kids and their families.
“… give thanks in all circumstances; for this is GOD’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
I started my career with King’s Gate in 1996 as the Director of the part-time programs and I became the head administrator in 2003. I received my undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Central Oklahoma where I also completed my master’s degree in Education. I married the love of my life, Bryan in 1986 and we celebrated 33 years this year! He still takes my breath away like he did the very first time I saw him.
I have admired King’s Gate for the way the staff loves and respects children since our daughter attended as a preschooler. It is humbling to be part of something so special, to be counted among such a gifted and loving staff and to see our GOD work in the lives of so many every single day. King’s Gate is an exceptional place where staff and families work together to prepare and empower students for their individual purpose. Thank you for sharing your family with us!
