In October 2016, King’s Gate held our first Open House at Surrey Hills Baptist Church to debut 6 renovated classrooms, Lion’s Den assembly room, a new lobby and bathrooms. The new space will allow our first grade – middle school classrooms to move in this building for the fall 2017 semester. We will break ground in spring 2018 to add additional classroom space, which includes a science lab. The renovated space will allow for classrooms as well as space for fine arts activities to include music and art while integrating technology throughout all the entire space. Additionally, the Surrey location would provide space for indoor recreational activities and conditioning space for competitive sports activities outside the King’s Gate campuses. Your gifts will help renovate the space as well as provide furniture and equipment.
One critically important hallmark of King’s Gate is the ability of the administration to hire and maintain a faculty committed to their Christian faith that possesses the credentials, experience and skill levels necessary to provide excellence in the classroom. Through the growth process, the financial objectives include underwriting for staff growth and compensation that reflects the qualifications and experience of the staff.
The preschool and elementary academic programs include a broad range of experiences in math, language arts, history, geography, social studies, music, instruments, Spanish, and visual arts. A well-known value of King’s Gate Christian School is the quality of the Science program. Parents continue to marvel at the depth of study and the hands-on experiences to which their students are exposed. Currently, plans are being designed to construct a Science Lab that will be attached to the newly renovated Space at the Surrey location. Our financial objectives include funds for construction and equipment for the science lab.
A goal of the Growing King’s Gate Campaign is to meet the growing need for assistance as school enrollment grows. King’s Gate is not your typical private school. Each year 25-30% of our children attend with tuition support. In addition, many of our students have a need or learning difference that is supported through accommodations in the classroom and/or specialized therapy outside of the classroom. Finally, many enroll to ensure a consistent loving environment and support through a difficult life situation; such as divorce, death, deployed parent, family member with cancer, grandparent custody, foster-care, etc. Tuition assistance is an important element of our ministry model that includes outreach through accredited Christian education.
To provide an important service to families who may have a student at both locations, the purchase of a shuttle bus will allow us to offer a shuttle service between locations.
King’s Gate classrooms are not only accredited and staffed by loving, credentialed, Christian teachers, but our children learn to support others through sensitivity to differences and to respond to one another with empathy and compassion. Our enrollment policy and the uniqueness of King’s Gate’s experiential methodology are among the reasons the King’s Gate Board has examined expanding the school. The Board has embraced that now is the time to move towards 12th grade in response to the families’ extensive efforts related to their hopes that their children will continue their King’s Gate experience through graduation.
