Letter Land Curriculum

Letterland is a child-friendly phonics and literacy program we use in our PK4, Pre-K and Kindergarten programs.  The secret of its worldwide success lies in its pictogram characters and their ability to make learning fun!  This well structured and language-rich approach features visual memory aids, actions, stories and multi-sensory activities to keep young minds engaged as they learn to read and write.

Set in a delightful place called Letterland these pictograms are a careful fusion of letters and animated characters. These simple powerful images contain the basic phonic information that children need for accessing print. At a more advanced level, stories about their interactions provide logical reasons for all the essential recurring spelling patterns in the English language. Letterland develops listening and speaking skills, vocabulary, imagination and play as well as covering a through z, capital and lower case letters, all 44 sounds and their spellings, blends, digraphs, trigraphs and early word building.

Letterland is a multi-sensory approach that is simultaneously visual, auditory and kinesthetic/tactile to improve memory and learning. Letterland provides a realistic parallel world which bridges the gap between abstract print and real world – creating a secure learning environment where children can happily develop cognitive, language and literacy skills.

This developmental curriculum covers all these areas of emergent literacy:

Phonemic Awareness, Alliteration & Symbol/Sound Links, Letter Formation (capital and lower case), Blending & Segmenting, Word & Sentence Building, Vocabulary & Language, Imaginative Play and Creative Writing.
