Sunday, January 7th, Surrey Hills Baptist Church (SHBC), in partnership with King’s Gate Christian School, hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for the Next Generation Center that will be built behind SHBC’s fellowship hall. The Next Generation Center will provide twelve classrooms for SHBC’s rapidly expanding family ministries, which includes King’s Gate Christian School’s second campus. The school is currently serving children ages 12 months through 6th grade and we will add a 7th grade class in August 2018.
The school and church partnership began in 2013 when Head of School, Wyndi Bradley approached Surrey Hills Baptist Church about providing a Child Development Center as a ministry to support young families in the community. Surrey Hills Baptist Church has served as a community center for multiple civic, athletic and home school organizations for more than two decades.
Pastor Wendell Lang shared, “Our church leadership was praying for a school partnership to provide Christian education in our community and we were looking for a school partner that had a desire to minister to families from all walks of life. Head of School, Wyndi Bradley approached us about such a partnership and our church was thrilled to see the joint vision come to pass.”
The Next Generation Center construction has begun and the building is scheduled to open in fall 2018. Surrey Hills campus serves 100 students 12 months – 6th grade. Families do not need to be members of any church to enroll. There is a waiting list for the CDC and 2nd grade, but all other grades are currently open for fall enrollment. King’s Gate Christian School will host a community Open House for the Surrey Hills Campus for elementary students Tuesday, January 30th 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
